How to get to Paros

Moving on

By Air:
Olympic Airways is currently the only air carrier
that serves Paros from Athens International Airport "Eleftherios
Venizelos". The airplanes are small and the available seats are few,
so you better book early.
The airport in Paros is located at the Southwestern part
of the island, and the distance from Naoussa is about 25 Km.
By Sea:
The most popular way to get to Paros is by boat, either
a slow conventional Ferryboat or a High Speed vessel.
You can catch a boat to Paros either from Pireas (at the
Southern part of Athens), or from Rafina which is located closer to the
Athens airport.

A conventional ship will take from 4 to 6 hours to get
to Paros. Ask for a ship that goes straight to Paros and doesn't stop
over at the island of Syros. Most ships depart early in the morning (07:30
- 08:30) and in the evening (17:00 - 20:00), and the price for a one-way
ticket is around 25 Euro (prices are fixed and you should expect to pay
the same at any travel agent).
A high speed vessel (most of them are conveniently
named HighSpeed) will get you to Paros in just over 2 and a half hours
and it will cost around 40 Euro (one-way).
All ships arrive at the port of Parikia which is
situated 11 Km away from Naoussa. We will be glad to offer you any assistance
needed to get from Parikia to Naoussa, just give us a call.

You shouldn't expect any unpleasant surprises when you reach
Paros. Despite it's traditional look the island has all the facilities
you would expect to find anywhere in Europe.
Shopping
In Paros you will find plenty of
Supermarkets, Boutiques, Jewelry shops as well as bookstores, souvenir
and antique shops.
You should expect prices to be higher than they would be in Athens.
Newspapers and Magazines
(both greek and foreign) are available in Parikia and Naoussa.
Getting around
The best way to travel around Paros
is by renting a car (or motorbike). You can do that as soon as
you step on the island as there are dozens of "Rent a car"
places. Availability might be difficult during August. A valid driving
license (EU or International) is required by law in order to acquire
a vehicle.
If you don't want to rent you can travel
by bus, taxi or boat. The buses cover most of the island but
while they are cheap and relatively efficient they are usually crowded.
Taxis can be found at designated places (not always) or
you can call them to come and pick you-up.
From Naoussa you can take a small
boat to any of the beaches around the bay. It doesn't cost much
and it's quite pleasant and refreshing.
Health Issues
There plenty of Pharmacies around Paros and any
medication required should be readily available.
The Health Center in Parikia can take care various small
incidents.
Things to do
You can spend endless hours on one of the lovely
beaches of Paros. Most of them are organized
with a cafe-bar, umbrellas and beach beds to
rent out, but you can still find secluded beaches for a more quiet day
in the sun.

On the sight seeing bit you can visit some interesting
Byzantine churches and Monasteries or
stroll through one of the traditional villages
of the island. You can also visit the caves of Antiparos (a small island
to the southwest of Paros).
You can also take one of the various one-day
cruises and visit Naxos, Mykonos, Delos or
Koufonissia.

If you
plan to do a bit of island hopping you can easily
get to Naxos, Mykonos, Ios and Santorini. You can also reach several other
islands in the Cyclades but not on a daily basis.
Getting back to Pireas and Athens is very easy as there
are plenty of boats through out the day.
